Woman MARKET READY

Woman Market Ready
My first blog article is dedicated to My Friend, Jennifer, who for as long as I can remember has encouraged me, believed in me, and has walked a journey with me most friends never get to walk…from the bottom of my heart—Thank You!
Jennifer and Kim

For years I have preached to my friends “life is unpredictable”, men leave you, you leave men, and most sadly—loved ones pass away—You must be “Market Ready”, because you never know when you will have to go back on the market. I know that may sound as if I am classifying us women as cattle but that is the farthest from my intentions. The “Market” pertains to all arenas of life, including but not limited to: dating; employment; friendships and just plain ole life itself. Please read on to see my intentions are pure and that my directness and bluntness are always for and have been for the greater good of womankind. This is exactly how I speak to my friends in womanhood and if you are reading this, that is what I consider you as well, a friend in womanhood. In our next 3 articles we will break down in more detail 3 of the main Market Ready components—1, 3 and 4. Component 2 will be represented in many articles throughout the WMR blog library with subjects to include but not limited to: budgeting; expense tracking and knowing what a credit score entails. In this article we will start by defining—Market Ready!

My definition of Market Ready is four-fold:

  1. Always maintain a weight of within 10-15 lbs of your lowest sustained weight as an adult. By sustained I further define a length of 5  years. That should be plenty of time for your body to know that weight and help you sustain it even with the modest increase allotted. For example if you have managed to maintain a weight of 125 lbs for 5 years or so you can easily dress to offset a 10-15 lb increase. I am not heartless here, I know life happens and food is really good so I gave you that extra 5 lbs when I should have capped it at 10!  🙂 Looks fade, fit (notice I didn’t say skinny) is forever!
  2. ALWAYS maintain even a minimal level of competence in your financial life. I reluctantly included the word minimal but thought at the very least go for the low hanging fruit. I was very fortunate to have the best financial role model, my Mother. My Mother was the epitome of taking nil and stretching it to cover the gamut. I have veered a few times over the years from her teachings but I assure you, that core foundation she laid for me is a gift. A gift I hope you will let me share with you. Looks fade, fiscal savvy is forever!
  3. Know how to cook, bake, boil water–something related to food! Again, I am very lenient with this. We all have different skill sets when it comes to cooking, baking and the like. Find one item you can cook, bake or boil then cook, bake and boil the heck out of it. Looks fade, cooking skills are forever!
  4. Never stop being interesting! Learn new skills constantly. I firmly believe a human’s role in life-woman or man is to contribute something to the world. Leave it a better place than they found it. What better way can I think of then to learn something new and share it with the world. Looks fade, brain beauty is forever!

So now that I have you thinking or at the very least contemplating applying the idea of Market Ready to your life, check back as we go in depth and break down each component that makes up the whole with ways to get started, continue or enhance your  Market Ready journey together…on to MARKET READY-Take 1!
