Recap of Definition 2:
Know how to cook, bake, boil water–something related to food!
On a random Wednesday, I was searching for something to eat for lunch. As anyone normally would I looked in the refrigerator, hoping something miraculously appealing would pop out-NO such luck! So instead I took inventory and started to devise a food plan. I am very picky about what I eat (realize I got that from my Mom) so I want everything to be ultra tasty, easy and quick. Food Plan: Bread-check; provolone cheese-check; butter-check and leftover salad (yes you read correctly)-check! That is how easily Oven Salad Grilled Cheese became my delectable lunch on that random Wednesday. Step by step instructions below:
Step One: Preheat oven to 400 degrees, butter one slice of bread and put it butter side down on your baking sheet. Put a couple of slices of cheese on the bread. Place your salad fixings on a napkin to get some of the salad dressing excess moisture off, then place on top of your cheese. Put another piece or two of cheese on top and cover with another piece of buttered bread, butter side up.
Step Two: Place baking sheet into the oven and bake the first side for 8-10 minutes until your desired crispness, then carefully flip to preserve contents from spilling out and bake for another 6-8 minutes until desired crispness. I have found it bakes faster on the second side, so just give it a watch and it should turn out perfect.
Step Three: Let your gooey goodness sandwich rest for about 2 minutes because the contents will be very hot inside!!! Please do not skip this step, your tongue and mouth will thank you!
Step Four: Slice, bite and enjoy!! 🙂
Instead of going into a diatribe or rant about how easy this part of the definition is I want to give you time to absorb the presented content and decide for yourself. I would love to know what you think!

I completely agree with this idea of having a “go to” or “signature” dish. We have a few in my family and are constantly impressing guests when we whip together our Chicken Francaise, French Style pancakes, etc. I would of course have to read this right before lunch! Looks fabulous and I cannot wait to try this Oven Salad Grilled Cheese. Looking forward to more tasty recipes. Thank you!
You had me at French Style Pancakes! 🙂
