“Here I go again on my own”—well definitely not percentage wise, on my own. I can now officially say in all my years of working, I have been laid off due to a pandemic & an economic downturn. I feel like the old accounting acronym-LIFO-last in, first out. But as disheartening as being laid off can be, especially when it is due to circumstances out of your control, it can also be a blessing in disguise—a chance to start over with all of your experiences from the past guiding you to a new-better path.
So as I often do when life knocks me down, I set up a systematic plan of action to get me back on my feet to get me to that new-better path. I created this Employment Search Checklist for myself to start my thought process on figuring out not only where do I want to go next but what do I want next to look like for me.
I have included a printable pdf format for you: Employment Search Checklist
A job search is a stressful time for all. The more you prepare mentally about what you want for your future, the less stressful it becomes. Best of luck in your job search but more importantly that the next place you land is the right fit!
