Synchronicity—Fact—Fiction or Something Else?

You Are My Sunshine...

Synchronicity—coincidence—signs or whatever you want to call the collective group all share the same derivative; that of being a part of something not easily explained. Not easily that is without in-depth interpretation and even then still intangible of scientific hypothesis. Are synchronicities manifested in the conscious or subconscious? So many questions; who holds the answers? I can only speak from what I know or rather what I have experienced in my life.

While reading The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield, I first discovered that the phenomenon of happenstance actually had a name—Synchronicity. As I would discover from that author’s view, coincidences are not random as we have been led to believe but rather intentional. Intentional to move us from a place of analysis to action for the collective good of mankind. Or if you will, one man/woman can make a difference among the masses by starting with their inner circle. A trickle down effect if you will.

I go back to my experience in this life as previously stated it is all I have the authority on, my own life. My parents came from two different countries. They “randomly” met some 20 years later, got married and had 4 children. That to me in and of itself has led me to believe there is some play of destiny at hands in our lives. At any one point along their journeys; my parents could have met a lady or gent from their own country or vicinity, got married and had kids but that did not happen. Were Roy & Margie meant to be the parents of John, Mike, Kim & Greg from the outline of time or did random events string together to bring them to the same place and time?

That would be a big string of coincidences spanning over 20 years separately happening in my parents’ lives before they met each other. Have you got to thinking yet about your own lives and history just by reading this far, I bet you have!

The threads of my own life start to unravel as I try to solve the mystery of it—try to make the rational out of something beyond my comprehension. Why are we programmed that way? Programmed, with the need to rationalize every situation. Wouldn’t it be glorious if the mystery of life and its happenstance didn’t need to be solved but actually treasured! My own story starts on the other side of the country from where I currently reside. From one ocean to the other, just thought of that, and it made me smile. I moved 5 times in childhood, any one of those states could have been my permanent home if my parents had divorced earlier but they didn’t. Was I destined to end up where I did or was it just random?

Was I destined to have passed up many relationships to meet the ones who would be father to my children? Was I destined to meet the women who have been my tribe dating back to 1977? Was I destined to be passed over for jobs that would lead me to the ones I was ultimately meant to have? The questions with no tangible, scientific base in fact could go on and on.

What does synchronicity hold for our futures? Would we make different choices if we knew that not all choices had to be based on what we can see or feel or touch with our physical beings but what we can see, feel or touch with our souls?

I intend to find out if it is Synchronicity—Fact—Fiction or Something Else?

You?

But it is the mystery of life that sustains me now.~Tom Wingo, The Prince of Tides
